You can reach Poiana Marului on DN 68, Caransebes - Hateg, then from Otelu Rosu uphill for 20 km to the caldera that embraces the Poiana, at a height of over 500m, in a natural environment with strong negative aeration.

- The monastery from Poiana Marului, with its Byzantine-style architecture, offers the pilgrim and any passing tourist moments of spiritual elevation and physical health;
- tourist attractions in the area, hiking on marked mountain trails, splendid waterfalls, accessible paths, mountain bike trails to Muntele Mic (1806 m), Țarcu (2190 m), Nedeia (2150 m), Bloju (2162 m), Zanoaga ( 1418 m), Magura Marga (1502 m,) etc.;
- the Poiana Mărului reservoir and dam offer a superb natural setting for swimming, water sports (padeling, boating) or fishing;
