We are Adina and Claudiu Hila, we are from Sibiu and this is a part of our journey from the last year.
Porumbacu de Sus is a popular village where we have never been until a year ago. Nor at the famous Clay Castle, which made the area famous throughout the country.
We were looking for a holiday home, and we visited a few, in locations from different corners of the county, but this house fascinated us.
Nobody really wanted it, it had been for sale for some time, there were three small buildings scattered around the yard, a vegetable garden that had once been cultivated with grate passion and hard work by the house owners, but which had lost its beauty as the time passed over.
The thing that charmed us at first was exactly what others considered strange: there were 5 rooms in 3 buildings. And the dream of having a holiday home has turned into a wish to offer others the opportunity to enjoy a charming location. And we started the work.
Our thoroughly renovations was intended to support the structure of the old houses even if this has hindered a bit our goal of creating customer comfort. Our craftsmen had a german work ethic, worked with passion and dedication without unjustified delays. A few (just a few) others postponed us, lied to us with unrealistic deadlines, did not answer the phone.
Does this sound familiar to you? We found helpful neighbours, who welcomed us with open arms and who (without idealizing or exageration), made us think that maybe this is what a community should look like, in which you trust others and in which you offer without expecting anything in return.
We have reached the end of the works and now our pension is ready to welcome guests. Rooms in which the traditional meets the modern, surprising decoration or functional solutions, a fairy-tale garden of 1700 sqm where you can see in, your grandmother's clay oven, where you can make bread, pizza or pies, a place where you can rest and feel secure at the same time (because the access is limited), a generous playground, a pond that invites you to contemplate, a very small amphitheatre where you can sunbathe or talk with friends around the fire or listen to a guitar in the moonlight.
Or in the back of the garden where a house and an old apple tree coexist in harmony, so much harmony that the house and its roof were made around the apple tree, which our 90-year-old neighbour says she found there when she came to the village, at the end of World War II.
We invite you in any of the two locations, to spend a few days at our pension, with access to Joyard Parc, or to organize events at Joyard Parc, like birthdays, weddings, or other happy small events, in which you want a special location.
We have no experience in tourism or services, but we compensate with the desire to offer our clients some memorable moments and a unique location that will delight them.
Joyard - Guesthouse in Porumbacu de Sus, Sibiu county - A pension and a surprising garden in a charming village, located at the foot of the Fagaras mountains!
In 2000 square meters you will find peace and quiet but also a playground, a small pond for children fascinated by fish, a small amphitheatre where you can sit with friends around the fire and other "instagramable" places.
You can visit in the area several tourist attractions, some for adventurers, others for families with children.
Basically, if you stayed at our guesthouse, you would need at least a week, having at maximum 30 km far everything you could wish. Except the sea. But in fact, we have in Sibiu the salted lakes from Ocna Sibiului, nicknamed the sea of Transylvania, so you also have at hand the sea.
Have a wonderful vacation, wherever you decide to go!
