Nestled in a picturesque rural setting, among hills and vineyards, Crama de Piatră blends a legendary aura with a modern and sophisticated atmosphere. It is a place where tradition has endured for hundreds of years, offering guests a unique experience full of stories and authentic flavors.
The story of our winery begins at the start of the 20th century, between 1909 and 1912, when exceptional Italian craftsmen built it in the heart of the Dealu Mare vineyard region. Constructed entirely from limestone quarried in the Tohani area, the building impresses with its craftsmanship and the unique properties of the stone, which naturally regulates temperature and humidity—ideal conditions for wine storage.
After a period of abandonment, the winery's story was reborn in 2017 when we acquired the ruins of the former MAT and began its consolidation and reconstruction. The current manor house, restaurant, and accommodation spaces were rebuilt from scratch using reclaimed materials—wood, joinery, and brick—preserving the authenticity of the place. However, the original winery and production hall, dating back to 1912, have been preserved and continue to be used for winemaking.
Our vineyard spans nearly 10 hectares and is largely made up of old vines, aged between 45 and 70 years. The grape varieties we cultivate include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fetească Neagră, Fetească Regală, Fetească Albă, and Riesling, with a strong focus on red wines, prized for their superior quality.
We produce approximately 30,000–35,000 bottles annually, operating as a boutique winery that emphasizes quality over quantity.

At Crama de Piatră, we offer quality wines, making us a favorite destination over time for lovers of wine and nature. Our experiences include:
Wine tastings at Crama de Piatră are combined with guided tours of the winery, offering guests the chance to discover the winemaking process. We present five or six wines—white, rosé, and red—paired with aged cheeses that complement each wine’s flavors. The tasting ritual follows a specific order, from the lightest white wines to the more full-bodied and higher-alcohol reds.
The Dealu Mare region has a winemaking history that dates back thousands of years. Over time, the local wines have been appreciated for their quality, and the 45th parallel, which crosses this region, provides an ideal climate for grape growing. We honor the roots and history of this land, keeping its story alive and promoting it with every glass of wine.
Crama de Piatră is not just a destination for wine lovers, but a place where the connection with nature, tradition, and refinement creates a memorable experience for every guest. We invite you to discover the stories and flavors of this extraordinary place!
