More and more city dwellers are yearning for what urban centres usually cannot provide: silence, relaxation, healthy air, water and food, being out of reach, feeling human again. Casa Maria and its surroundings offer it all.
Through your stay at Casa Maria, you experience the power to get in touch with the beautiful high nature value landscapes of Transylvania, but also with yourself.
It has a spirit that melds the uniqueness of a geographic location with the ideals of the building's owners, Lili & Ivo, to see all living beings on planet Earth back in their original state of being.
Restored in connection with themselves and everything around them. Casa Maria is the perfect place to hide and seek the beauty of life.
Casa Maria is located on the edge of the National Park Apuseni, Transylvania, on a private estate of 20,000 m2. A little hidden in the forest on a level of about 1,000 meter level high.
On the same estate, hidden at different spots, you can find the wooden house of the owners, a wooden hut for body/soul massage (by reservation only) and a tree hut.
Casa Maria was built by local craftsmen. Most people fall in love with the place at first sight. Perhaps they feel with how much love Casa Maria was created and still is maintained.
Not for business-as-usual, but to create a mesmerizing place for people to experience several types of rich landscapes in an area where many people from Western Europe have the idea to travel at least 70 years back in time.
They are right. This part of Romania still contains a biodiversity that is rather unique in Europe. Low intensity agriculture coexists with an abundance of flora and fauna.
Within a close reach, you can experience at least 5 different types of high nature value landscapes. Such as (1) Apuseni National Park, (2) Călata Region (Kalotaszeg), (3) Vlădeasa Mountains (including Bridal Veil Fall at Rachitele), (4) the mountain zone around Mărişel and (5) the area of lake Beliș-Fântânele.
Casa Maria is built to make you feel at home straight away. The smell of the wood and the cosy decoration provides a warm atmosphere. The main interior is hand made in Austrian-Hungarian style by the ancestors of the owner over 100 years ago, but recently completely renovated and painted.
All over the house are large windows, a kind of living paintings that guarantee much light and make you feel part of the green nature around you.
In the tastefully decorated, spacious living room you can find French windows leading to a porch facing the south as well as an old-fashioned, handmade tiled stove and wooden dining table. A new sofa bed (2.04 x 1.40m) completes the living room
Through a flexible, solid wooden staircase there is access to a spacious loft (a mezzanine) with a comfortable king-size Swiss-Flex bed (2.10 x 1.80m). When there are clear skies you will have a beautiful view towards the starry sky.
Following on from the living room, you can find a cosy kitchen, created by Monica Dumitrescu from Alba Iulia, the sister of the landlady, equipped with all essential comforts.
