La Mama Anica is a back in time place, located in the heart of Transylvania, at the foothills of the Fagaras Mountains.
This authentic Romanian house can be found down the valley, towards the edge of the village Porumbacu de Sus, at the turning where on the blue of the main facade, facing the road, two pairs of shuttered windows frame the Orthodox symbol of the cross.
Beneath each shutter, floral ornaments complete the decor of the house. Here you will find a place where you can relax, enjoy nature and the wonderful Mountain Viewșs, eat local food and get away from technology.
You can see every night the cattle herd of the village and admire what the village is giving us every day: traditions, beautiful people, landscapes, strong emotions, fairytales, old clothes and fabrics forgotten in the dowry coffer.
The houses have been restored in a traditional style, which reminds us of the holidays spent at Grandma.
The first house has two bedrooms with double bed, a kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The second house, recently finished, has one room with a double bed, a basic kitchen, ensuite bathroom and an attic where you can relax and read a book in peace and quiet. In this house you will also find a small museum, with a hand loom, reel, distaff wool, folk costume and other old parts used by our grandmothers.
All the rooms are furnished with antique Transylvanian furniture and most of the textiles were handcrafted by our grandmothers and aunts. The houses have a very generous garden with hammock, a terrace with traditional bread oven, stove and barbecue where you can eat.
Bike rides on the hills and in the forest (we can provide you free bicycles). Our houses are placed right at the entrance to the village, so you can arrive quickly on the surrounding hills, where you can enjoy nature and the breathtaking views of the Carpathian Mountains. Or you can just go hiking in the woods, or even make a longer walk to Negoiu Chalet, because our village is situated on the way that leads you to Negoiu Peak.
